The Web Rangers is an initiative by Google to promote digital literacy among the youth. The aim is to promote and educate the youth about how the internet is an empowering tool relevant to their lives and their futures.
Web Rangers are recruited from different schools from Metro Manila, ranging between the ages of 15 to 20. They’ve grown up with the Internet, and use it mainly for entertainment, but have read stories of people unlocking their potential with the internet and want to know how to do the same.
For 2016, this year’s Web Rangers will be attending a one day Google program with inspiring speakers talking about Digital Creativity, amazing innovations, using the Internet for more than just cat videos and how it helped them push the limit and turn their hobbies into something bigger.
Using the knowledge and skills they’ve learned from the workshop, they’ll be tasked to create an idea answering how Digital Literacy can help you level up, and ultimately, upgrade yourself in life. The campaign can range but is not limited to a social movement, a digital campaign or an installation, in hopes to not only inspire others to level up by maximizing the tools of the Internet, but also to inspire themselves to upgrade.
